Let’s try something. If I could ask a favor, why don’t you take a moment and look on your shelves, in your closet, your drawers etc and tell me, how many training and seminar books or guides sit there, gathering dust? How many have you opened and read or used since attending the class? Training in and of itself really doesn’t work. That is not to say that all training is bad; in fact, there are some fantastic training courses floating around the business community on any given day. The problem is very few of these have any basis in the reality of your actual world. $99 off-the-shelf programs or general industry materials never seem to have any meat to them. At TCB Cameron Consulting we adapt each and every course to reflect what employees actually face. Our programs are designed to achieve measurable goals that can be immediately applied back on the job. Yet, even this isn’t the entire answer. Transferring skills from the classroom to the job also requires the support of the management team. Good training goes bad when the management team isn’t involved or doesn’t believe in the skills or processes being taught. It doesn’t do any good if, when the employees come back from training, their manager keeps pushing the same old skills and processes that didn’t work and prompted the company to look into training in the first place. Our solutions address this issue by creating coaching and executive summary courses for each and everyone of our programs. |
